Tony's Trooper - PANDA!!

Postby Mediamonkey11 » Wed Dec 15, 2010 4:45 am

Acceptance is the first step, or so I'm told.

Well, I got over that quick.

Now for some pictures...

Here's what I started with:

Image

Had a fender bender when I got it:

Image

Hence, the need/want/addiction suppressor:

Image
(Better pictures to come, it's few and far in between when we here in the PNW get a decent day)

Afterward, I decided to do some investigating regarding some steam leaking form a junction here:

Image

And ended up getting into the engine this far:

Image

A slightly less distorted picture due to less breath from it being ridiculously cold outside...

Image

I replaced all top end intake related gaskets, including the thermostat to block housing gasket, and of course, the head coolant crossover hose as well as the upper radiator crossover pipe o-ring in back of the engine.

Now, no steam whatsoever, the engine heats up quickly and stays at temp like a champ, and the coolant system stays at a really good high pressure now! :D

Just some random video funness...

Yes but, unlike other programs, the end goal is not to be weened off your addiction. Instead now that you have stated & accepted it you can further seek assistance in feeding said addiction.

Well, after a while of waiting (mainly for da moneez), I sprang for the new tires.

I spent a couple nights working on the snowflakes:

Image

They didn't turn out too bad I'd say, certainly a lot better than they were. I only stripped the clear coat off of one of them, the rest I wet sanded as far as 600 grit and sprayed them with Dupli-Color wheel coating. Seems to have worked pretty well. The one I stripped looks a relax different due to the new clear coating and lack of factory finish, therefore, it is now the spare.

BUT, I ended up with these beauts!:

Image

Ain't they pretty?!!?

Then, the next day... Look what showed up!

Image

Holy moly, they're huge!!!

Image

Then, it was off to Les Schwab to get them mounted to each other.

Not so fast, gotta have a before shot! ;-)

Image

Then, I snapped a quick pic at the gas station :-)

Image

I tell you what, I'm really glad I have a 2" lift coming on Friday, with my soft and saggy springs, these rub pretty good in the back over a decent bump. But thus far, the power is slightly lessened, but doable. The ride is firmer (they're D rated) but it's much more controllable then my old tires, they SUCKED!!! And she handles SO much better. And they make sound, but only really noticeable between 25-45mph, and even then, it's not much at all, and I've never had mud terrains before. So far, I LOVE them!

I'll definitely post pics after the lift too, stay tuned!

Yeah those tires made a huge difference, looks good. The ride will improve 10x with new shocks and springs, I know it did on mine. Love those snowflakes as well.
