How much trouble is it to swap out a 2004 Isuzu Rodeo 3.5 L for a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo 3.2 L . Thanks

I would say on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the hardest, it is a 10.

The 2004 3.5L Engine Control Module (ECM) cannot control the 2001 3.2L engine

The 2001 3.2L Powertrain Control Module (PCM) needed to operate the 3.2L engine cannot communicate with the 2004 AW30-40LS Transmission Control Module (TCM)

Therefore, you would have to install the 3.2L engine and install a 4L30e transmission plus install a 2001 PCM and all the associated engine and transmission wiring harnesses. This is not impossible but pretty close.
You could install a MUA5 manual transmission to make the swap a little easier (maybe).
