2001 Tooper/CHECK blinking on TOD

Just noticed the other day the TOD display started blinking CHECK,need some advice on where to start asap,is this serious?

When the Torque on Demand (TOD) display Check lamp flashes it indicates that the TOD "computer" has detected a TOD system fault and that 4WD High range is inoperative.

Pin #8 of the Data Link Connector (DLC) is the TOD diagnostic enable pin, when you ground it with Ignition Switch in Run, the TOD "computer" will flash out the diagnostic failure codes using the Check lamp. Pins 4 and 5 of the DLC are connected to ground.

Flash code 12 signals the beginning and end of the flash code sequence. If there are no codes it will flash only #12, if you don't get a flash #12 the TOD computer could be defective or have a loose cable connector.

In some instances the DLC is mounted upside down. Normally pin 1 is the upper left and pin 16 is the lower right pin.
