Thank you, I am in Chattanooga. Mostly retired. Do you meet with any clubs?

None around that I am aware of. I've only been on the scene about a year or so. Have two 1988 Troopers, one of which, I rebuilt the 2.6 on and the other will be my longer term project. I bought it as a parts car but after I washed off the slime it is actually considerably nicer than the other one.

My situation was similar. I bought an amigo with the 2.6. It was tired and smoking. I just wasn't up for a rebuild. Eventually I got the idea to get a donor vehicle, the rodeo with bigger engine automatic and 4wd and clip it to the amigo. My body skills are better than my wrench slinging skills so I didn't need to switch everything the hard way. Especially all the electronics. Just cut them both through the roof and floor. Fit and start welding. Have you got photos of the Troopers?

Oh yeah I got pics. If you are curious check out this thread: was my first rebuild so the guys here helped tremendously. I am not completely incompetent mechanic but had never dug into the guts of an engine before this one. Just brakes, water pumps, tune ups etc.

Here is the "parts" trooper

BTW my main troop has a boxed rear corner that I am going to deal with this weekend. I bought one of those pin welder things at Harbor Freight. The one where you weld on the little pin and then use a slide hammer to pull the dent. First attempt at any body work so we will see how it goes. Pretty impressed with the scale of your project.

Regards,
Alan

Wow, good job. Tons of good info compiled there by you and helpful folks. You got a great deal on the troopers too.
