Last week I went by an old friend´s shop right around the corner from where I work. Found out he had a sandblasting machine so I took him the aisin hubs´ caps.

The guy has owned an amigo since forever, and told me he regularly does maintenance on his aisins too. He took the dials off of the cap in front of me, being very careful with the little ball/spring inside the dials.

He was kind enough to carefully clean and reassemble them. It cost me just a cup of coffee.

I doubled checked he assembled them back correctly. Found out he used gasoline to clean them because I opened the ziploc bag they were in on my desk and now the whole office stinks and people were like

Next is some black paint, I think maybe I´ll paint the dials black too.

Ok, so I still haven´t installed anything yet.. lame.. but I´ve been busy dealing with other things and the slow progress will sadly continue... Over the weekend I painted the aisin hubs and found out the 7 of the 12 cap screws have to be replaced since they are fairly elongated and might snap easily so I´ll go buy 12 news ones.

Here are the painted hubs, I´ll sand down the letters on the other hub tonight.



Also got myself a used OEM Isuzu hitch . My best friend´s brother in law is selling his trooper and he gave me an awesome price for it. I cleaned / sanded several parts and then painted it. I need longer screws for the bumper mounting points. Hopefully I´ll get them this week.

Small update:

Got the aisin hubs installed, new front discs and pads as well. Finally got a exhaust leak fixed, new airfilter, rear sb bushings and some vegetable oil to pass inspection/emissions




Had to get new bolts for the hubs, couldn´t find the same ones though.

Haven´t installed the snorkel yet, probably will be able to mount it next week, but while taking a close look at it and trying out mounting spots we found out the my trooper comes ready on the inner fender for the snorkel , the mounting holes for the inner piece and the large hole that enters the engine bay are already there. Do all troopers come like this??




Got a Gopro Hero2 as an early B-day present from my brother. The first time I used it was a couple of weekends ago, we had a trip with the 4x4 club. Still have a lot to learn about it, but I´m pleased on how the first edited video turned out.

The group of cars was very large so as usual there were no hardcore trails, just very slippery mud. My trip was cutoff early since my radiator hit the fan and.. now I have a big chunk missing from the radiator. Thanks to our awesome group of buddies we got to a place where a guy "fixed" it and I was able to return home.

And the video, I hope you like it . There was a big puddle only modified 4x4´s where going through making a huge splash. It looked tough, we were the last ones and gave it a shot and wasn´t hard at all:

Also ordered a set of 1.25 wheel spacers, researched a lot about them and will keep a close eye on them. My daily commute is about 6 miles so premature bearing wear is not a big concern. Wanted to get some lightforce 170 lights, but also wanted something different and less power consuming. Ended up ordering a set of Rigid Dually D2´s. Now just gotta wait some time for them to get to CR. And hopefully after a long, loong wait I will be receiving the correct rear shocks this week (went to miami for vacation, took them to exchange them, new ones (+23" ext) did not arrive on time, had them sent by mail to CR)

Also forgot to mention I bought a set of mecatech boots from AlexXx, big thanks to him I replaced 2 torn ones and have the 2 spares now. Those mecatech´s look to be more durable.

This week I installed the spacers and the Rigid lights. Will post pics shortly. I installed the lights yesterday, and it rained all night so could´t get some pictures.

Here are some pictures of the Rigid Lights. I´m really happy with them. At first I was a little skeptic on how they looked on the bumper; And I know not everybody likes them since the common trend is the usual bigger round light look (almost everybody runs LightForce´s over here), but I wanted something new and different, and it turned out awesome. Plus the fact that they draw a mimimun current is a huge gain. I mean I don´t think it´s safe to have the 4 roof lights on for too long since those are 400Watts in total plus headlights... Also have to take some pics with all the lights on, but at this moment the roof ones are disconnected because I´m working on their wiring (it was kinda messy on the engine bay..)


The light output is incredible, the photos are from my cellphone, and the pictures don´t do justice for the actual amount of light.














If I ever win the lottery I´d buy 4 more to replace the roof ones

I really need some of those, specially with a 50amp alternator like mine...
They actually look cool on the car (didn't think they were going to at first to be honest) I guess you're right, we're just used to the "oldfashioned" big round lights. Guess times have changed...

OK, so finally I got some great progress today:



A friend that has a small 4x4 shop helped me with the holes this morning. Hopefully I´ll be completing the installation by myself tonight.

Also finally installed the rear shocks a couple of weeks ago, I´m thinking of lifting it another 1" or 1-1/2" with some coil spacers in the near future.


Can´t wait to get off work and work on the snorkel!
