Postby Ed Mc. » Thu Jul 09, 2020 8:51 pm

But wait, there's more! $100 V6 Trooper, it don't get much cheaper than that!! It's been on there for $500 for quite a while, and I just noticed the price drop.

That would be the PERFECT candidate for a 4JB1-T or 4JG2-T diesel swap!

Imagine that. Kind of like the FREE one that was on the local C/L down here last week (2 wheel drive, no top, no engine / trans but with title). Like the movie: Gone in 60 seconds. Dennis

1990 Trooper 2.8 - $700 (Salem Or)

Postby Ed Mc. » Tue Jul 21, 2020 9:14 pm

It has an auto trans slipping problem (what a surprise!) but look at that LS body!
Would make an excellent candidate for an engine upgrade and a 5-speed swap.

Bet it sells fast, hurry!

https://salem.craigslist.org/cto/d/sale ... 02486.html

This is a sweet little trooper.
Good:Runs great drives great Pretty clean inside
well loved and maintained.
Bad:
I bought it for my parents and it Ran great till the transmission went.
If I had the know how I would rebuild the transmission.
It does drive but not very fast. I spins out at about 3000 RPM
I have wanted to fix it but I already have too many projects
A little less than 140,000 Miles, New Brakes, Radiator

SOLD OF COURSE! '89 Spacecab 4x4 - $1100 (Lake Stevens, WA)

Postby Ed Mc. » Mon Aug 03, 2020 12:09 am

EDIT: Price dropped to $1100!

Has a pretty straight body and decent paint and of course it's in "rust free" PNW.

Needs head gasket (and who knows what else), would make a nice project, especially considering the rarity of nice examples of these.

https://offerup.com/item/detail/925237987/

Just posted today, Hurry!

This is a mechanic special truck this would be good for somebody that knows how to work on cars this is a 1989 Isuzu pickup in pretty good condition the insides a really good it does have a blown head gasket I don't have the time or space to try to fix it myself the car has a really nice stereo it's four-wheel drive everything works other than it needs a new head gasket this motor will run forever if it gets fixed. The car turns over but it does not run

91 Trooper 2.6 - $1,100 (Portland, OR)

Postby Ed Mc. » Sat Aug 22, 2020 12:20 pm

Another cheap one! Clean, non-rusty Gen I's are getting harder and harder to find.

It might need a clutch (or maybe just hydraulics, who knows?) but looks like a great project rig, and it runs!

If it does have only 110,000 miles, I bet the clutch is ok and the master or slave cyl's are blown out from sitting.

110K is pretty low miles for one of these, not even broken in yet!

https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/cto ... 71067.html

1991 Isuzu Trooper 4 door, manual transmission, low mileage. Body and interior in good condition. Runs well but needs new clutch and belts since it has been parked for quite awhile. Complete with records and manuals- second owner. Priced to sell - make best offer. Selling for a deceased friend. Send note and we can arrange phone discussion.

Wow, these are non-existent here in Texas. I would buy it sight unseen for the full asking price if I was up there in Portland. Wait a minute, I don't want to go any where near Portland these days.

If the clutch wasn't slipping, you could drive it right out of Portland and back to Texas. Who needs a clutch pedal, start 'er in gear and go!!

Airline tickets into Portland are probably pretty cheap nowadaze.

Heck, if it was just hydraulics, I'd head to the local auto parts store, get the parts and fix 'em right then and there & be on my way.

Just think of it this way, if you were to get into any road blocks from "peaceful protesters" all you need to do is slap 'er down into 4-low and pedal-to-the-metal!

Interesting, and a little tempting, but not in my life plan for the near future. Honestly, I liked the other one better (LS package). Dennis

Re: Craigslist deals

Postby DSUZU » Tue Sep 08, 2020 7:34 pm

I liked the pickup better than the Trooper. My first Trooper, a 1987, I got in 1998 when my second daughter was born (the Suzuki Samurai wasn't going to cut it for a second car). Had it for about 4 years and got a second gen Trooper (The Red Sled), but gas mileage was disappointing, only kept it for a few years (and 1 rebuilt transmission). That's when I got the 91 LS (True Blue). It had a failed (failing) 4L30E, but I changed it over to a MUA5. It was doing fine, and I liked it, but I really wanted / needed a pickup. I hated tossing "stuff" - like mowers - in the back because of the wear and tear on the interior. Somewhere on here was a picture of a Snapper riding mower that fit in the back once I took the front tires off :D. I had scared up a little 2WD short bed pickup and was going to build a "hybrid" Pickup - Rodeo 4 door pickup (Like Ron's, but 4WD) when the Spacecab came along. I'd still have it if it weren't for the fire. I'd get another except for all the irons I currently have "in the fire" - and the wife. Baja is working for me now. What it won't carry, my trailer will. I do kind of miss the boxy old Trooper though. Dennis
