Today's the Big Day!

This evening, after work, I will be packing a few Isuzu parts and other such goodies, and then I'm heading down to Rancho de`Bansil...

I should have quite a few new photos when I return

I'd like to put in a pic request. I wanna see you in the passenger seat.

Just a tip (when you are in the race) don't wear a hat. Remember the Rubo quote, "Hold on, I am Pissed."

After those words were uttered I ended up with a knot on the top of my head from that little button on the top of a baseball style hat. My head went into the roof and all of the weight was on that little button :evil:

Well it's monday morning sorry but no pics :cry:

my camera was dead this weekend.

Smiley will chime in with some pics and a treat or two either today or tommorrow.

We made mounts for the fuse panel,switches and the horn button for the passengerside.

Actually Smiley made the horn mount,cut it out,grinded the sides and corners and drilled the hole..............to beat it all this was done in the blowing snow :roll:

it was cold and wet......

Cut out the lower rocker panels for easier access into the cab,so the hole skidder can be used for a step,100% better.

And he fits inside the cage :shock:

and to beat all he can get in and out of lowrider faster than I can :lol:

he's so tall he just steps into it
amazing huh?

And he can prove it.

Got the hi/lo beams hooked up to a switch and got the wireing done for turn signals etc.

We mounted the lights,still gotta wire them up tho' but since the panels now have mounting points that won't take long.

Once again sorry no pics but there will be some later.

The light bar looks great. And Smiley looks like a regular Luke Duke climbing into that thing. The question is, can he get out as quickly?

yeah preety straight forward,but hooking up belts and such will be different.

yeah alot more footroom,they are cutout about 1/2" too much,there will be crap getting into the cab from the front tires slinging crap off the bottoms of the doors,I think, not for sure yet.

Yep -- it's as easy as throwing my right leg up and over the cross-bar, and then reversing the moves... 1-2-3, and I'm standing with both feet on the ground

Agreed! --- I wouldn't be able to get in-and-out anywhere near as fast if the door sill was still there... not even close.

Nah... I'm betting there will be a whole lot more junk getting in through the big holes in the floorboards where the Cage ties-in to the frame... compared to that, I'm not too worried about the door sills

Those issues could be taken care of very easily and cheaply with 1-2 cans of the expandable foam (which is shapeable and paintable when dry).

Just a thought.

Looks like my ZU time is going to be volunteering with the American wheeler crew during the race.
Last saturday I met Sean and Dylan when it was muddy as all sheeeet in URE.
Banged up my doors trying to make a bypass... oh well. now its a trail rig! :twisted:

but I promise to bring a video camera and a digital so I can get some action when I am not on the 'job' in May!

Do you have any idea when you will be running? Fri, Sat or ???
BTW I Love the hard work Turtle!

I assume

we'll be running saturday but who knows........it will be alot of playing by ear.

We'll be at the campground (arrowhead) thursday nite.

A few new pics for the folks that didn't get to uwharrie this weekend.

When Smiley was here on Sunday It was nasty and cold :roll:

it does accent her hips tho' :wink:

License plate mount,a recycled old plastic trailer plate holder.

The mount and plate just happened to fit exactly on the centerline of the tubes,so 4 drilled and tapped holes later,I was done...........this is the only thing I didn't plan for that worked perfectly. :shock:

notice I used the factory light :wink:

I added a thin pc of aluminum to the front of the light to keep the po'po' at ease.........no white light to the rear :roll:

Last nite I notched and cut the two side pcs for my rear bumper extentions/quarter protection.I added a small brace on the frame end.I still have to cap off the tubes tho'

trying to get the welding done since it's supposed to rain all weekend,hopefully I'll get the wiring done and fab up the two cooler mounts firstaid kit mount make or modify a speakerbox.

Me and lowrider spent some quality time together today :wink:

I mounted the lightbar,

and wired up the aux. panel this weekend.....I'll get a pic up later.

And then I took her top off and mounted her spare tire (gotta look the part)off we went..........

ugh kinda..... :roll:

we'll after i crawled in and out 5 times to undo fences and barb'd wire.....

she was out of the backyard.

we rolled to the gas station and I put $20 bucks in her........lotsa of stares and wow's from folks.........

We headed to town,running 45mph,she was a little squirley above that.....
who cares right :twisted:

Rolled into the local autoparts store with all of it's 90* turns and it was loud, squawl,squawl etc etc.

I stopped at the front door and pulled the steering wheel off and set it on the dash :wink:

opened the door and crawled out,I closed the door and this girl and boyfriend were coming out of the 'zone .....she stopped and said"Damn that is Bad a--!!!" ugh her boyfriend was not impressed (insert pirate icon here)......I continued on..... they came back out of the foodcountry
and once again she said the same thing and this time her boytoy smacked her,she looked at him and said quite loudly...."that is bada--!!" and hit him..........guess he should of agreed :lol:
