I know this probably isn'y my place since i'm fairly new, but I believe there needs to be seperate "subforums" or whatever you call it for each Isuzu vehicle. (i.e. Rodeo, Trooper, Ax, VX, etc.) Has this been discussed or suggested before? If so, I apologize.

As an operator of another forum, I can tell you--it's hard deciding how to organize content. If someone has problems with his 3.2 engine, it shouldn't matter which vehicle it's in--Pickup, Trooper, etc. You could make a case for creation of separate subforums for each engine type, as long as you're talking about engine-specific issues. On the other hand, if it's about SAS conversions, you'd probably want those grouped by vehicle type. Hierarchies don't work well when so many components are shared between vehicles.

I hear where you're coming from, but i'd prefer a vehicle specific subforum over an engine specific subforum. I know each time I come to this site i'd be clicking on the VX and AX categories all the time. Its just so hard to scroll through this site right now to find threads about the vehicles you want to read stories about or view pictures of. And yes, i've typed both into the search function.

This forum is just fine the way it is. Leave it alone.

Honestly, I think forums need to be even simpler. I find it exhausting to have to click through and look at posts in every single one of the subforums, so I tend to look at the General discussion 99% of the time. Really, I think there should be:

- Isuzu Talk
- Misc BS
- Stuff for sale

And that is about it. :)

But like many others have said, the forum is fine the way it is. No one cares about anything but Troopers on here because they are all that matters, and if you are like me and you have a VX, you go to VehiCROSS.info for VX stuff. If you are also like me and you have an Isuzu Impulse or some other obscure Isuzu vehicle, you are alone on a deserted island. If you have a Rodeo or an Amigo, no one cares at all.

Bart

PS - Totally kidding.

Honestly, the categories are irrelevant the way I view the forum. I just click View unread posts and scan the Subject lines, without paying attention to what section they're in. That's the fastest way to scan everything that's been posted since my last visit. Oh, and it requires me to mark all forums as "read" when I'm finished, so the topics I don't care about don't STAY as "unread".

Never did it that way! I'll try it!

That's the way I read the forums also. I like reading this way because it forces me to pay attention to everything regardless of what category it is in.

Bart, I like the three categories but how about this way:

Trooper Stuff
Non-Trooper Stuff
Stuff for sale

haha kidding :)

agreed. same for passport. sometimes it takes days, or even weeks to get info that is so desperately needed. there is no tec support for isuzu, this is it. and that is one of the reasons these great rigs dont stay on the road.

That's the way I read too. Kinda.

Minus the 'mark all forums as read'. I don't do that.

And I use the "View new posts" which is right beside the "view unread posts".

And when I first come in, in the morning, I use the "View Your Posts", up in the blue bar at the top. This gets all threads that I have posted to, that have new posts (that I haven't read) in them, on the screen.

I am definitely with the 'simpler is better' crowd.

The subject has been brought up a few times before. One of the reasons this board is as good as it is, is because it is not divided up by model. I've been on boards like that before and hate it. Everyone just goes to the model that they have and never look at other ones. The way this one is laid out there is a better chance for everyone to learn about all the models and help each other out better.

Exactly.

I have an 88 trooper with 4ze1, and mua5.

There are very many 4ze1s and mua5s out there in other models. And other years.

Now if there a sub-forum for troopers. And that is the only place I ever went... And most people would stick to just their model...

If I posted some really good advice about the 4ze1, how is anyone with a 4ze1, with any other model, ever going to see it ?

Or if someone in some other model section asks a question about the 4ze1, or some electronic problem, etc... How am I going to see the question ? If I don't see the question, and I do have the answer... Such a shame.

And if we go further and have separate sections for the different motors, and transmissions, etc... Then you are further widening the gap between the info, and the person who really needs it. Because I don't know about anyone else, but I am certainly not going to go around posting the same thing in a bunch of different sections, just to make sure that someone who needs the info has a chance to see it. Aside from laziness on my own part, we actually have a rule against that, here.

If you need something, search. If search doesn't get you what you need, then ask.

:D :D :D

Hey, it's an Isuzu site. it ain't broke, don't try to fix it. I'm on another forum where they just did that and the forum practically went dead. Before you could sign on and see any new topics, comments or questions. Now, you have to go through several topic pages to see if anybody has even been there. This is a great place, and a great bunch of people. Dennis

I shouldn't have to tell anyone here that Isuzu was making trucks l-o-n-g before there was a Trooper. As a friend used to tell me "from the helmet of dead Marines..." Besides, my truck is basically sitting on a Trooper frame. Dennis
