I think we need a chart

I think we need a chart of what width and size tires will go with what amount of lifts for each truck. Like the 32-11.5r16 are the max size for a first gen rodeo with no lift and no rubbing. So here's a template of different trucks and different lifts so if anyone knows what will work before rubbing gets into it, put it on there.

ALL TIRE SIZES LISTED HERE WILL FIT AS SAID WITH A RIM THAT HAS A 3.75 BACK SPACING

1st gen Rodeos

here is a neat calculator using tire and wheel size offset and backspace it compares one to another...including how far out new combo will go compared to old. suspension, fender, wheelwell clearances and speedometer changes

http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp

fyi my research shows:
1990 1st gen gen trooper 15" steel wheels probably have about 5" backspace i have not measured or weighed them...
15" snowflakes 7" rim 0 offset thus backspace 4" not 3.75" used vernier caliper. weight about 17 pounds
16" snowflakes 7.5 " rim, -5 offset, 4.1 backspace about 18.3 pounds.

I have a 1990 trooper 2.8 gas and stock steel rims with 30 -9.5 -15 tires.
I want to go to a slightly smoother riding tire as my only off-roading is limited to dirt and washboard roads and potholes in paved roads. the road I use the most is supposed to be paved by the end of the year (which year?)

thinking of 265-75-15 on 15" snowflakes, concerned they might stick out too far, have mudflaps. suggestions?

I have an 04 Gen 2 Rodeo stock it has the 16x7 inch wheels and I was looking to run 30-9.50x15 on 15x8 with -12 offset 4inch of backspacing I've been researching and can't find out for sure if for one the 15s will clear the breaks and two if with -12mm backing if it will rub or not. Wanting to go to 15s due to the much wider and cheaper tire options.

Just got a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo 3.2 and bought some treadwright all terrains 245/75R16... After dropping it off at the tire shop this morning they called me back and said they couldn't mount the tires because they were too big lol. I have 245/70R16 on there right now. Here we go... so now I have to go pick up my rodeo and bring the tires back on a trailer to be mounted.

285/75r16 M/T on a 1998 trooper, has the middle OME rear springs, with extra load not much lift. This is on the second stage ome springs. And I cranked the torsion bars. I think it was about 1-3/4" lift. Then with load the rear was lower so I put air bags on too. Now sets level loaded. Probably about 800# heavier than factory with all gear. And these rub on the front fender liners when the suspension compresses all the way.

That's total B.S. Probably a tire shop that won't mount anything other than the stock size for liability reasons. I have 265/70R16s on the stock wheels. My spare is a 245/75.

I ended up bringing the tires and wheels back to the tire shop on a trailer. The tire shop mounted them up and I brought them home to test fit them. As others have mentioned, I had to remove the front mud flaps. But then I noticed the newly mounted tires still rubbed when turning. I think these treadwrights 10ply 245/75R16 on the stock alloy Isuzu rim are a little larger than a standard 245/75r16. I ended up cutting a piece off the bottom of the inner wheel plastic and using a heat gun to finesse the plastic. No more rubbing! but it is very close.

there's no mention of fitting 16 inch rims on a First gen Trooper ... is it not possible? I have seen photos of 16 inch rims on them I thought

[the original post only lists 33x10.50 R15 as max tire (stock 1st gen Trooper) in the chart]

Wheel size doesn't really matter. Offset/backspacing and overall tire width and height are all that really matter. You may have trouble with something smaller than 15" but there's not many 6 lug 14" wheels anyway. 255/85/16 is pretty close to the 33x10.50/15. 15, 16, 17 would be most common nowadays, with more and more tires skewing sizes toward the 17" wheels now.

Somewhere here on the site there is a discussion that concludes you can fit a 32" tire on a 1st gen Trooper with little or no lift as long as the rim is the proper width & offset. With a couple inches lift you can fit 33s, again with the right rim.
Stock early Trooper tires often were 235-75R15 that are about 29" tall, you will lose about 3% power & speedo reading per inch increase in diameter.

Anybody have a pic of a 2nd gen amigo(rodeo sport) with 255/70/16 or 265/70/16 on stock rims with no lift? I'm trying to decide which size and do not want to lift or trim.
I wouldn't go higher than 245/75R16 without a lift.

I'm not sure if this is helpful, but these are 15x7 +8 offset Toyota wheels with Cooper 32x11.5R15's
I test fit them from my Toyota Pickup. I love the stance. I decided I'm going to just go with 265/75R16'son the stock mesh wheels though.

I have some new Cooper ATX 33x12.5's on a 15x8 aftermarket wheel. No lift yet. Haven't even driven on them as of today but damn they look huge compared to my stock 15x7 on a 235 tire

I think its a great idea.
But the only thing missing is the size of the rims (16 or 17 by 7 or 8) and the offset (OS) vs backspace (BS) vs center line (CL).

A stock 245 70 16 on a 16x7 rim is ok. But a 265 70 16 may work better on a 16x7 rim with a 3.50 BS. Or a 285 70 16 may work on same size rim but 25mm OS and 3.50" BS.

There ar a lot of factors

913 springs are a model from Old Man Emu, you would actually want the 2929 springs though since you have a 98+ trooper

To lift the front you just turn the 26mm nut clockwise. One on each side, underneath the front doors. 4 full turns is roughly 1" lift. You will need an alignment after, and you may want to do what's called a "balljoint flip" to get the camber adjustment better into spec (which needs to be done before the alignment). Basically you remove the upper ball joint and then remount it on the other side of the control arm, lots of threads on this.

of what width and size tires will go with what amount of lifts for each truck. like the 32-11.5r16 are max size for a first gen rodeo with no lift and no rubbing. so heres a timplet of different trucks and different lifts so if anyone knows what will work before rubbing gets into it put it on there.
