CL Portland: 1981 Isuzu I-Mark Diesel Sedan

Postby Red0ktober » Thu Dec 03, 2009 8:18 pm

I looked at this one last night but passed. Thought I'd give you guys the scoop in case anyone else is still interested (I am still interested if the price comes down some).

The craigslist ad has expired, but I have her contact info still. She's planning to move so wants/needs to sell by the end of the month. Ad was for $700.

The body is straight, no rust, just faded paint. Runs fine, I brought an optima with me, but wouldn't crank fast enough with jumper cables to the optima on the ground. Slapped the optima in the car and it started fine. Alternator works, but not very well, holds 12.6v-12.8v with engine running and headlights on. Some belt and probably bearing noises when you rev it up, possibly from the alternator. Exhaust is blown out. Interior shows 300k miles worth of use, but not awful-awful.

Man, if I only had $700 and was way closer, I'd definitely pick that up! None of the I-Mark Diesels are on the road here anymore... they all rotted away and ended up in the junkyards to further rot. :(

Forgot if I mentioned, that car has 300k miles on it, but it had the engine replaced at some point. It's greasy, been in there a while, but I don't know how many miles are on it. Could probably check with the dealership, they say all the maintenance was done at Braley & Graham Isuzu (where UNDERDOG works).

Well, it was designed in the 70s, what do you expect?!

She has the craigslist ad back up:
