Anyone install one in a 2.8L 6cyl? Would it be the same as a 3.4L? Is there an "isuzu" block heater that would be best for a 3.4L? Or anyone have great experience with an aftermarket heater?

Like I have said before, the wife and I are trying to move out to the East coast, it's a little colder than the Pacific NW, and I wouldn't mind starting some winterizing project. I was also thinking about a battery heater, and potentially oil pan heater. I've seen a couple oil pan heaters that are pretty much glued onto the outside of the pan. I'd like to have them all wired together so I only have 1 plug, but I'm thinking the current draw may overwhelm 1 socket.

Thoughts and idea's? Only thinking this to the extreme because I'm a pilot, and my Trooper is often left in a parking lot for DAYS. I could see after working 3 days on heading out to my truck in the dead of winter and it not wanting to turn over. ugh.

I used to live in a very cold climate, but all I ever used was an oil pan heater. It was just like the one you described. At any rate, it seemed to be quite sufficient. I lived at an elevation of about 8,000 feet in the rockies of Montana. It routinely got 20-30 degrees Farenheit below and winter lasted about 7-8 months. I'm not sure how that compares to where you're going, but maybe it will help.

I had one installed on (block heater) my 2.6 when I was stationed in North Dakota. I was only able to get one at a dealer (in Fargo). My experience with much colder weather than you will have, is a block heater and battery warmer are all you need. They will run off one plug. The warm coolant gives you instant heat too when you start it up at -40!!

Also, look around for a radiator cover. They make them for most SUV's, and are like the ones big trucks use when it is cold. You start up, nice and warm, but the minute you drive away the bitter cold air will make your engine cold again! So you need to block the air flow.

East coast Canada... Nova Scotia - and the winters there can get pretty cold. I just want some mods that will ensure trooper starts EVERY time.
