So I've entered a Rally

Postby Tad » Thu Mar 02, 2017 10:24 pm

I've entered this rally:
https://www.rallynorthamerica.com/event ... july-2017/

The Rally raises money for Hope For The Warriors®
Their Mission is:
We believe those touched by military service can succeed at home by restoring their sense of self, family, and hope. Nationally, Hope For The Warriors® provides comprehensive support programs for service members, veterans, and military families that are focused on transition, health and wellness, peer engagement, and connections to community resources.

You can donate on behalf of my team, and follow along at:
https://www.facebook.com/TeamGreyMarket/

The more money that my team raises, the closer to the front of the pack I get to start.

Sounds like a wonderful cause, but why are you running a Mercedes and not a Zu?? Do you plan to bring the boys?

On a serious note, I tried to make a donation but could not because I do not have a Facebook account. (I know that I am one of the small minority of holdouts but I have done without it so far and don't plan to join now.) Is there another way to make a donation?

Hey, if you really want to run a Zu, I am sure we can find you one. I think JoeD's racetruck may be available.

What time do y'all leave Waynesville on the 13th? I might drive up the road to see some cars. :D

Beyond what is posted on their site, we don't have a schedule yet. My guess is fairly early.

Very Cool. I'd love to do a rally like this if I could find the time.
I ran Brock Yates' One Lap of America (AKA 'legal' Cannonball Run) in 1999 and had a blast.
199? Rodeo (ISO of my next project truck- being picky)

Kind of, except that you can't go too fast (average speed above the speed limit and you are DQ'd) so it's really a scavenger hunt on wheels.

Very nice! I wouldn't mind making it down to the Rome, GA stop to check it out. I'll have to dig around on the itinerary a little further to see the details of the stop!

If you really want a fun rally that is not as dangerous a cannonball run, but more fun than a dictated route cruise, check out the Great Race (and some of their shorter weekend races). Its more about going the perfect speed, like one foot on top of the gas pedal and one behind to hold the pedal just right despite the bumps! You have to split the dictated speeds at a landmark (Go 35mph until you see curve ahead sign and then go 25mph- you obviously can't immediately drop 10mph, so you drop 5 before and 5 after, split on either side of the sign). Believe it or not, people get perfect time! Enough hi-jack.

Good luck and I'll donate a bit to the cause!
